Meet the Team

Sharon Brown, Director

Sharon has spent over 25 years working across the youth policy and youth homelessness agendas with local authorities, the Third Sector and importantly,  young people; encompassing project management, operational planning, strategic leadership and management, policy implementation and research.  Her previous roles have included Youth Adviser at Government Office North East, consultant on Targeted Youth Support with the Training and Development Agency, Development Lead for Foyer Federation in the North East and Yorkshire and Humber.

She is the founding member of the North East Homelessness Think Tank, a member of the North East Child Poverty Commission and North East Talent Match Programme Board and a Trustee at Streetwise North.


David Whalley, Regional Project Officer

David joined YHNE in September 2017. David qualified as a social worker from Sunderland University in 2013. Since qualifying, David has worked within the voluntary sector, working with children and young people at risk of Child Sexual Exploitation and within local authority child protection teams and safeguarding adults teams.

David’s real passion is working with young people to help bring about change and ensure that their voices are heard and plays a central role in YHNEs engagement with partners, stakeholders, regional champions and young people across the North East.


Arron Williamson, Communications and Support Trainee

Arron joined YHNE in 2015.  Arron administers all digital platforms for YHNE including the website, social media pages and monthly newsletter.  Arron works to raise the online profile of YHNE, linking in with partner organisations to raise awareness of the issues young people face. Arron also supports the YHNE team in delivering projects which engage young people across the North East.


Victoria Clark, Administrator Fundraiser

Victoria joined YHNE in October 2017. Victoria has a wealth of knowledge and experience in all voluntary sector governance and fundraising having worked in the sector for a long time. Victoria has excellent contacts with the funding sector and has previously managed grant giving schemes therefore having first hand experience of what funders want and expect.

“This is the first time for me working for a regional charity so it will be a challenge but I’m really excited to be part of such an important organisation in the fight against homelessness in the North East”
