North East Homeless Think Tank are delighted to welcome Dr. Peter Mackie as part of our Turning Research into Practice Seminars.

Getting to grips with Homelessness Reduction Act: Making a difference to homelessness prevention in the North East

Dr Peter Mackie is a leading expert in the field of housing and homelessness. His research in this area has focused on the housing pathways of very vulnerable people and has examined rights-based approaches as a potential solution to housing poverty. Peter is currently the FEANTSA Research advisor for the UK and convenor of the Wales Institute of Social and Economic Research, Data and Methods (WISERD) Housing Research Network.

Seminar objectives are to:

  • Inform the change process for homelessness organisations in the NE
  • Make a real difference to preventing homelessness in the NE
  • Explore concerns and fears about the HRA
  • Develop best ways to involve other sectors
  • Support consistent best practice
  • Identify gaps in developing responses
  • Support the best possible implementation of the HRA

Attendance is particularly welcome from housing providers, local authority housing options teams, Job Centre Plus staff and advice services, supported housing and homeless organisations
