Homelessness Hackathon 2019

On Tuesday 25 June, FutureGov, Housing 2019 and Inside Housing, held a hackathon to find innovative ways to end homelessness at the Chartered Institute of Housing’s annual event. The Housing 2019 event is the largest in Europe. The event presented a unique opportunity to bring together housing experts and organisations from all over the UK to address problems within the housing sector.

The opening day of the event was dedicated to a Homeless Hackathon where participants were invited to collaborate and design new solutions and to contribute to ending homelessness.

Teams made up of professionals and individuals with a wide range of knowledge and life experience collaborated, to come up with innovative suggestions and solutions to tackle homelessness in the UK.

The event audience voted on the put forward suggestions and shared with the Inside Housing readership the following day. The winning idea was announced at The Fringe on Thursday 27 June, two days later.

During the event, new tools and experienced new ways of working to create shareable and reusable content and assets were discovered and explored between the hack attendees. Experienced facilitators also encouraged cross-sector collaboration and guided attendees to build tangible ideas for use across the sector in the immediate future.
