HMO Research into Practice seminar : Tackling Hidden Homelessness in the North East

NEHTTThis event was organised jointly by NEHTT, IPPR North and Justlife Foundation and provided an opportunity to hear three recent research projects from NEHTT, Northumbria University and IPPR about single homeless households living in Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs), private hostels and Bed & Breakfasts. It also looked at how services and public policies can be changed to provide more support and a better living environment for single homeless households, hearing from one service provider in the North East about how they had helped to change people’s lives and their experiences in accommodation in this sector.

 

The seminar was attended by over 50 people, representing local authority homelessness and environmental health / private sector teams, research and policy organisations, homelessness organisations, Fire & Rescue Services, substance misuse services and Probation services, and by owners of private sector accommodation and local authority elected members.
