Children’s Rights Alliance for England: Children speak out on homelessness

A new report from the Children’s Rights Alliance for England reveals the shocking conditions children are experiencing while living in Bed & Breakfasts & Temporary Accommodation. Children in England are being housed illegally in B&Bs for months on end leaving them at risk of sexual exploitation, developing mental and physical health problems and disrupting their education.

The research carried out with homeless children through in-depth interviews paints a disturbing picture of the impact that being housed illegally in unsuitable and unsafe B&Bs is having on their lives. Children talked about being housed in cramped, dirty and unsafe conditions, miles away from school, friends and family where they are often being left to languish for long periods of time.
