Strategy for Change Event

Tuesday 4th December 2012, 9am-1.30pm

The County Hotel, Newcastle

This event launched the Youth Homelessness in the North East Survey, The Youth Housing Charter produced in participation with young people from across the region and sought to consult on the priorities and actions included in the Regional Youth Housing Strategy.  The data will offer a current and rich picture of youth homelessness informed by local authorities, service providers and crucially young people.

The aim of the event was to offer the opportunity and space for local authorities and service providers to:

  • Make use of the information presented to inform policy and practice in meeting the changing needs of homeless young people across the North East.
  • Introduce the ‘Youth Accommodation Pathway’ presented by the Department for Communities and Local Government in ‘Making Every Contact Count’,
  • Begin preliminary planning to inform local policy and strategy

Speakers at the event included:

Andrew Burnip, Specialist Advisor for the Department for Communities and Local Government in the North East.

Adele Irving, Research Associate, Centre for Public Policy, Northumbria University.

Becky Elton, Regional Manager, Homeless Link.
